Tournament Format

  • Shuffle

  • Cards must be shuffled at least 5 times
  • Dealer's partner can shuffle for partner
  • Dealer's partner cannot shuffle for partner
  • Cut

  • Person to dealer's right cuts the cards
  • Person cutting cuts deck into 2 parts. Top card must be different.
  • Person cutting can "let 'em ride" (no cut)
  • Person cutting can reshuffle cards
  • Deal

  • Cards are dealt one at a time starting with player on dealer's left and proceeding clockwise until all cards are dealt
  • Cards can be dealt in any order as long as all players have the same number of cards at the end of the deal
  • If misdeal, team loses the deal. Deal goes to the next player.
  • Dealer's partner can deal for dealer
  • Dealer's partner cannot deal for partner
  • Bid

  • Bidding starts with player to dealer's left
  • Minimum bid is 4
  • Minimum bid is 5
  • Low bids take out Hi, No bids take out Low and Hi
  • Low bids does not take out Hi, No bids take out Low and Hi
  • All bids must go to next level
  • Kitty

  • Sporting the kitty allowed
  • Sporting the kitty not allowed
  • Sporting the kitty allowed except on No bid
  • Players can trade in jokers on No bid for cards in bid winner's kitty discard pile
  • Players cannot trade in jokers on No bid
  • Play

  • Starts with person with the highest bid and proceeds clockwise
  • The winner of each book leads the next play
  • Score

  • If bid is made, add bid only to team's score
  • If bid is made, add bid made to team's score ("You get what you make")
  • If a No bid is made, add double the bid made to team's score
  • If a No bid is made, add bid made to team's score
  • If bid is not made, subtract bid from team's score
  • If bid is not made, add bid to opponent's score
  • Boston is 7 points
  • Boston wins game automatically
  • Game ends when one team reaches 7 points or losing team reaches -7 points
  • Game ends when one team wins n bids
