Playing with Trumps

Each player has twelve cards at the beginning of a hand. You are player #1, the hand to your left is player #2, your partner is player #3 and the hand to your right is player #4. The highest bidder plays the first card and each player in turn follows suit. Players must play a card in the same suit as the first card played. If a player does not have the suit led, they may play any other suit in their hand, including the trump suit. The player with the highest valued card in the suit wins the book unless a trump is played. When trumps are played, the highest valued card in the trump suit wins the book no matter what suit led.
