After the highest bidder declares what the trump suit is, the kitty is revealed. In a no trump, the highest bidder must declare if the card value sequence is "uptown" (Ace, King, Queen, etc.) or "downtown" (Ace, Deuce, Trey, etc.). The highest bidder gets the kitty and may use it to improve his/her hand.
